Agony Magpie: Tips for jewelry Instagram
We learn from the best to help (not only) the young jewelry brands!
If you are the founder of a jewelry brand, gallery or simply like when your Instagram feed is full of pretty trinkets – this guide is for you.
You know well that today a brand that wants to succeed can’t have only a website. The 21st century client is very sociable. Just like us Magpies they like to belong to a group, make contacts and in the Internet they look for inspirations above all. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat… there iare really many ways to establish contacts with your clients, but probably the most interesting one is Instagram!
Lesson of magic
Instagram is an application to… do magic! Dear Magpie, can you charm your client, make their heart beat faster? If not, then for you in particular I have selected the most inspiring Instagram accounts which show different ways of managing feed.
But remember that Instagram is not an app to publish random photos. It is the app to make history! Instagram is a reflection of your brand! Make it as freaky or calm as it is 🙂
Minimalist
Brands: Amarilo, VRAI & ORO, The Undone
Delicate chains, simple rings, plain earrings. I love minimalist jewelry, but it is a real challenge to present it in an interesting way. The key to success is the background. Minimalist jewelry likes marble, natural materials and delicate fabrics. But to draw the client we need more than just publishing the packshots. We need to think how to visually enrich the photos.
Amarilo (@amarilo) brand does it perfectly! On Instagram, apart from beautifully presented jewelry, they publish photos related to the brand’s aesthetics. White cat hanging from the couch? Why not! Minimal sketch? Perfect! It all adds a bit of expression to the jewelry.

Another minimalist brand worth following is The Undone (@theundonestore), a webstore established by Australian blogger Sara Donaldson (@harperandharley). The website’s Instagram is a reflection of Sara’s black and white philosophy. In contrast to Amarillo, jewelry here is exhibited along with clothes to show the client that a pair of earrings is a great addition to a stylization. After seeing this Instagram you’ll take their word for it!

The purest form of minimalism present VRAI & ORO (@vraiandoro) showing that less is more. The Californian brand’s main goal is the quality of products. Their Instagram feed is built from packshots and close-ups of hands, wrists or models’ faces. I have to admit, Magpie, that each time they share something new I’m delighted.

Designer
Brands: Uterque, Mociun, Licia Florio Jewelery
If you make crazy, extravagant jewelry, like strong colors and contrasts, the next three brands will be a perfect inspiration for you. Attention! There’s no place for minimalism.
Uterque (@uterque) is called the more expensive version of Zara. The brand’s shops are not huge retail chain shops but small boutiques selling only specially selected clothes. As long as Uterque clothes are in fact minimalist, then their jewelry are small works of art. The brand goes for expressiveness of their trinkets and their Instagram looks the same. They invited artist Pablo Thecuadro specializing in collage art to cooperate in their latest campaign. The result is stunning!

Licia Florio (@liciaflorio_playground) is probably the most entertaining jewelry brand on the market. On the wave of popularity of chokers they decided to introduce them to their offer, but to be worn on a leg instead of a neck. The idea turned out genius. I would add variety to my sneakers this way, too. This expressive brand is supported by equally expressive Instagram. Licia Floro goes for color, quotes and funny shots. All of this to bring a smile on her clients’ faces.

Caitlin Mociun (@mociun), the founder of another brand, was born in California, brought up in Malaysia and Chech Republic, and now she lives in New York. Such cultural mix resulted in a diversified aesthetics of jewelry. Mociun specializes in rings, so the palms with thousands of trinkets are the leading motif of her Instagram. Jewelry here is presented interchangeably with inspirations that led to its creation. Such feed management gives clarity and at the same time isn’t difficult.

Sculptural
Brands: Knobbly Studio, Sarah & Sebastian, Edie Borgo
Since we’ve tackled the topic of art, it’s time to look at another group. You know quite well, Magpie, that for us jewelry is like a small piece of art. In the market there are many brands which treat their products like sculptural objects when creating them. If you think alike, why don’t you emphasize this aspect on your Instagram profile?
Knobbly Studio brand (@knobbly_studio) draws handfuls from modern art. Their jewelry is a modern version of works of Picasso or Matisse, therefore they present sculptures, exhibitions or art albums on their Instagram.

The Australian brand Sarah & Sebastian (@sarahandsebastianjewellery) inspires similarly. The real hit were face-shaped earrings, while this season they are heading in more abstract direction. They show on Instagram the jewelry manufacturing process accustoming their clients with aspects of craftmanship and the backstage of their work.

New York accessory designer, Edie Borgo (@eddieborgo), reproduces art in a smaller scale. Recently he proposed his clients a choker in a shape of the famous Dan Flavin neon. The brand has a very clear Instagram profile. It is thanks to white rims of the photos, which guarantee coherence of the feed.

Artistic
Brands: Delfina Delettrez, All Blues
There are brands which go a step further and don’t make do with only jewelry photos. Here the photography is the most important!
The master in creating the artistic Instagrama is Delfina Delettrez Fendi (@delfinadelettrez), the daughter of the creative director of the famous fashion house. The designer creates a funny, extravagant jewelry (as the true Italian should!). Her Instagram is a mine of inspirations and a real stars lodge. See for yourself how mane celebrities love her projects!

All Blues (@allbluesofficial) is a Scandinavian jewelry brand creating minimalist but avantgarde jewelry. The key to coherence of their Iinstagram profile is adding a series of three similar photos. The latest All Blues collection is the result of inspiration with Dutch still life. The oyster and clam-shaped earrings and necklaces found the best background on the plates. Clever, isn’t it?

Maximum
Brands: Jennifer Fisher, GemGossip
Anna dello Russo, Italian it-girl and Vogue Japan editor, has long been claiming that “the more, the better”. If your brand’s aesthetics goes for maximalism then you have to emphasize it with your Instagram profile. There are many girls who love to play with jewelry.
One of them is Jennifer Fisher (@jenniferfisherjewelry), Californian designer. Fisher loves expressive, large jewelry, best in multiplied version. Her Instagram is as lively as she is, so you rather won’t find there single photos of the products, but stylizations where the accessories play the first fiddle!

And last but not least, the blogger and jewelry collector who in galleries, shops wholesale in stores and flea market. Gem Gossip, that is Danielle Miele, shows on her Instagram that maximalism means most of all much fun! Who wouldn’t be jealous of all those trinkets?
You have to let us know if the article was useful to you! Soon we will focus on the second important aspect, that is how to expand your magpie bunch of followers.
