Rainbow Engagements

We could go on for hours about engagement rings. Those magnificent ones featuring dazzling solitary stones or those modest and delicate ones, just the same. Or maybe even something a tad more extravagant, too? One thing is certain: we love them all, because it is the jewelry packed with emotions and feelings. There are as many engagement rings as there are love stories. We want to bring you closer to those that sparkle in all the colors of the rainbow.

More and more jewelry brands offer engagement rings created with same-sex couples in mind. They are not just a beautiful proof of love, but they can also present a challenge. If both partners in the relationship want to wear a ring on their finger, the goldsmith should produce an appropriate setting for the gemstones, as well as create a set that will add splendor to the special celebration and go beyond gender stereotypes. One of the very first designs of the sort was the cherished 1999 Shaun Leane ring. Intertwined rings with white and black diamonds are his absolute best-seller to this day. White diamonds are a homage to tradition, while the black ones give the ring a more masculine character. The entire design was dedicated to same-sex couples, and Leane himself admits that the true challenge was to give the diamonds a masculine character.

Will you?

Since the Shaun Leane ‘Interlock Me’ rings premiered, brands have been growing increasingly aware of the needs of homosexual couples. Special designs for engaged same-sex partners have even been absorbed by the mainstream; if only because of the 2015 Tiffany’s ‘Will you’ collection, which featured a male couple in love. Interestingly, at the time of filming the spot, both the gentlemen were in an actual relationship, which is a charm-booster for the campaign. As highlighted by the jewelry tycoon, the extraordinary twist of the collection intended to prove that love has no boundaries. The matching ring sets entered Tiffany’s permanent offer. Their latest collection, ‘Tiffany True’ is, in turn, a unisex-style engagement proposal.

Proud jewelers

It’s not only those well-known brands that have been promoting the idea. More and more often we come across jewelers specializing in same-sex engagement rings. One such brand is Woolton & Hewitt, with its tagline ‘Pride in jewelry’. The brand offers matching sets of engagement rings, and their signature designs are the colored ones created to hint at the iconic LGBT flag. Take the ‘Rainbow’ rings in platinum and 4 shades of gold: rose, champagne, yellow and white gold. If you wish, it may be additionally set with color-treated diamond giving a brilliant effect. Jordan Jack offers an interesting option for men: Home Try On. You can choose five rings which will be delivered to your door step! The designs are simple, yet nothing short of elegant. You may opt for gold, silver, titanium or carbon fiber. Titanium seems to be the favored pick among same-sex couples, men in particular. Titanium designs in Messika’s Move Titanium collection features dark shades, simple forms and black diamonds. Messika also offers bracelets and cufflinks. But design diversity is one thing. What makes us exceptionally happy is to see more and more jewelers around the world are eager to design for any type of couple and to cherish that they can help out and be part of such unforgettable moments.
