PREMIERING ON BLIGNSIS: A NEW COLLECTION BY GROOVY

PUTTING ONESELF INTO THE JEWELRY

It’s a pleasure to be writing this. For two reasons. The first pleasure is Brindo, the newest collection by Groovy, launches here on BLINGSIS. And the other pleasure is to be able to promote graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź: Joanna and Dorota. Having just finished university, they dared to turn their skills and ideas into a jewelry brand. What was my reaction to the girls’ new collection? It clicked; I liked it. Especially the hair pins with colorful gems that aren’t a quick grab on Aliexpress (they are made in the Groovy atelier), and a necklace with a turquoise and crystal blue enamel.

‘Creating the collections, we took care of every most minute detail. We wanted to be absolutely sure that every part will be unique to our clients, so we decided to use the, somewhat forgotten, jewelry enameling technique. Additionally, we added a handmade engraving to every piece of jewelry. The engraving is a bit reminiscent of those trinkets made on exotic islands that we bring as souvenirs from our journeys or vacations,’ explain the designers.

Brindo means ‘I give’. Although the girls speak about their inspiration to the very summer-like and frivolous tune of ‘Brindo’ by Devendra Banhart, I see more to their collection. Other than jewelry that perfectly matches summer looks and lounging in the shade of a palm tree, the collection offers what others are short on these days. It is authentic; they made every single piece by hand. That’s why they don’t offer all the trending trinkets in designer packaging. They offer much more than that: designs that they conceived themselves. And that is their biggest asset.
