Artelioni. It’s not worth taking a break from jewelry. ;)
We live in times when escaping the stimuli became a sort of a challenge. Do you know that one of the most known ancient Chinese tortures was cutting the convict’s eyelids? The delinquent who wasn’t able to close his eyes and was getting stimuli from the outside world quickly began to be sick and died. The scientists are comparing the contemporary people to those Chinese convicts: the amount of stimuli and information we incorporate everyday starts exceeding adaptative abilities of our body…
Rest? Let’s fly on!
Rest? Time only for yourself? Do you even remember how it is? Why only when the boss shows you a black belt in humiliation, the number of unanswered emails reaches a hundred, a table in Excel blinks in red, no … even purple – do you decide to go on holidays? I’ll tell you that recently we decided to do a small escape from work. We flew to where on the roads there are no ads, the air is cleaner, and the views can be described as pictorial as in Orzeszkowa’s novels. There to get “home” you have to get through a couple of big turns or make a pleasant walk up the hill – which is an advantage, because you are watching closely the wooden houses with grass on the roof. Surely you are suspecting that I have started to tell you about the Magpie expedition to Norway.
Trondheim, Orkanger, Trondheim…
We got to Trondheim, which still in the late Middle Ages was called Kaupagen, that is Market Place, by viking king Olav Tryggvason The town is famous for its magnificent monuments (Old Town Bridge – the bridge of the old city from 1685, the Old Town Bakklandet – eighteenth-century wooden houses and merchants’ warehouses) and picturesque landscapes. You want a fun fact? The only bike lift in the world is here. It’s 130 m long and moves 2 m/s. Nearby, there is one of the oldest shops with Norwegian jewelry Gulsed Moller from 1770. Of course we go inside and find it difficult to leave. Well, it’s almost evening and the shop assistant wants to close the shop, so we drive to Orkanger, a small municipality where we are going to spend the night in a red house situated on… a high mountain.
We’re hand feeding the fjords
I have to admit that Norwegians are masters at building roads and tunnels in a seemingly insurmountable places. Thus to the majority of fjords lead roads from which you can admire their beauty. I learned that the largest Norwegian fjord is Sognefjord situated north from Bergen. It is 240 km long and is one of the longest fjords in the world. Also its depths is impressive – it’s 1300 meters! Awesome, isn’t it? Haha… I might also start writing a travel blog. Would you be reading it, lovely Magpie? OK, jokes aside. We’re moving on…
Perfect place for photos
You know well, my Magpie, that we don’t like taking pictures in the “I’ll-take-a-photo-two-blocks-away” mood. Well, unless we would be in New York, and the street would resemble a scene from a famous American film. Jewelry needs a unique and well thought setting to be able to reign in the picture. You are probably wondering what trinkets we took for a trip with us, huh? We packed the minimalist jewelry from the latest Artelioni collections in the suitcase. My favorite silver agate rings and subtle brass earrings and silver bracelets. We walked a lot there breathing deep and looking for a perfect place for a photo shoot. Well, let your more and more expert eye be the judge of how we did.
Let’s talk about Norway and… trinkets
I hope that you’ll remember at least some of the fun facts about Norway. If you still don’t have enough and want to talk to me, drop me a comment. I don’t want to play Agony Magpie. But as Magpie in Chief (with workaholic inclinations) I can tell you that it’s worth sometimes taking a break and letting go of everyday duties. It can be Norway or any other beautiful piece of our beautiful Polish land far from noisy tourists. There are, however, treasures, which are a beautiful addiction. It’s not worth taking a break from jewelry.
