GARDEN OF DELIGHTS GUCCI STYLE
When it comes to combining razzmatazz and pop culture, GUCCI is second to none. A tiara with a t-shirt. Shiny jewels on sneakers or rock-climbing shoes. It really shouldn’t catch anyone off-guard anymore. You’ll always find someone mercilessly castigating the brand’s trickiness; GUCCI has been consistent at sticking to the uncompromising, feisty style set by Allesandro Michele. This time, however, the brand proves that it can delight as well as shock. Explore the latest collection jewelry by GUCCI.
Hortus Deliciarum is the Italian brand’s first high jewelry collection. Hortus Deliciarum is Latin for Garden of Delights, and the name perfectly captures the ambiance of the fancy designs. There is plenty of glare, fairy-tale motifs and bold designs. Nobody expected modesty or minimalistic inclinations from GUCCI anyway. The collection genuinely flourishes with precious stones: diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, opals, aquamarines and rubellites; all draped in a bit of extravagance and floral details.
Love and beasts
The entire collection has been divided into three parts: ‘Animal Kingdom’ deriving from creatures of antique bestiaries; then ‘Heart and Arrow’ evoking love themes; and ‘Solitaires’. The motif of mythological Paradise permeates all the parts. The line contains over 200 necklaces, rings, earrings and other unique valuables that ideally complement the brand’s philosophy. Allesandro Michele describes the Hortus Deliciarum as full of discordant symmetry, because neither the wild animal world nor an unpredictable love carry the perfect order and precision. Beauty resides in their imperfections. Among the meticulously prepared designs, you’ll find the brand’s classic motifs and mythological creatures with a modern twist: a tiger, a lion, an Ouroboros, Triton or Dionysus, each surrounded by impressive flowers and decorative leaves.
Parisian setting
The stunning collection can be admired in the brand-new GUCCI boutique in Place Vendôme in Paris. It has been designed to affirm the splendor of the jewelry, while at the same time not to suppress it with the décor’s glamor. The elegant emerald interior with satin and ebony finishes provides a supreme background for the fabulous adornments and yields a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. On the very opening day, the boutique was hailed as the boudoir of high jewelry. That really sounds like paradise for every Magpie.
