Focus on craftsmanship – INHORGENTA 2026 preview
Jewelry is an expression of human talent, creative depth and quality – and it is precisely this design and artisanal craftsmanship that will become the new guiding theme of the 52nd edition of INHORGENTA, taking place from February 20–23, 2026 in Munich. A true hotspot for the European and global jewelry industry, the fair attracts prestigious brands, leaders and visionaries. This year’s program highlights include the immersive exhibition THE ATELIER, dedicated to the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and innovation, as well as the INHORGENTA AWARDS gala. This is the last call to submit projects for the competition.
INHORGENTA continues to successfully strengthen its position as one of the most important international industry events. The 50th anniversary edition in 2024 marked a new chapter in the show’s history – a new visual identity and strategy reinforced the fair’s DNA and status, and this fresh energy translated directly into results. Last year’s edition welcomed over 1,300 exhibitors from 38 countries. Participation from Belgium, Greece, France, Portugal, the UK and Poland increased – and I can personally confirm that during my visits to Munich over the past two years, I encountered a very strong representation from my home country. The growing presence of companies from Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates further confirms the fair’s global reach. The momentum of INHORGENTA continues, and the upcoming edition, guided by the inspiring concept of “craftsmanship,” promises to be even more exciting.
Bridging tradition and innovation
By choosing this year’s theme, the organizers of INHORGENTA have perfectly captured the essence of the moods and trends shaping the future of the jewelry and luxury industries in 2026 and beyond. The AI revolution unfolding before our very eyes is sharpening our awareness of the value of human talent, imagination, creativity and manual skill. The influential report The State of Fashion 2026 clearly indicates that a focus on craftsmanship, quality and unique design in the world of luxury will be key in the battle for consumers’ attention and wallets – and this applies equally to the jewelry sector. One of our industry’s greatest strengths is also its deep connection to heritage: the cultivation of artisanal traditions, the stories of multi-generational family businesses, and the emotional narratives that engage audiences and strengthen their bond with brands.
The organizers also emphasize that tradition and innovation are inseparable, and that new technologies are becoming tools that allow us to push the boundaries of human (!!!) creativity into new, unexplored territories. This story of evolution and synergy in jewelry craftsmanship will be told through the interactive exhibition “THE ATELIER.” From ancient Mesopotamian cutting techniques to digital AI tools supporting the design process – the display in Hall B2.352 will be a true journey through the history of mastery. This narrative will be further enriched by live craft demonstrations, offering visitors a chance to observe goldsmiths, stone cutters, watchmakers and other specialists at work. “We are creating a stage for the people and skills that make jewelry, watches, and gemstones what they are: expressions of precision, passion, and cultural heritage,” emphasizes Stefanie Mändlein, Exhibition Director of INHORGENTA.
Awards for masters
There is hardly a better way to celebrate mastery in jewelry creation than the INHORGENTA AWARDS gala, which will take place on February 22, for the first time at Bavaria Film Studios. This will be the ninth edition of the competition – and it is truly the last call to take part, as applications close on February 1, 2026. Alongside traditional categories such as Fine Jewelry, High Jewelry, Gemstone Design, Designer and Design Newcomer, new awards will also be introduced, celebrating excellence in retail and customer experience: Goldsmith Studio of the Year and Jeweler of the Year. The idea of honoring outstanding brick-and-mortar concepts distinguished by uniqueness and quality is perfectly on point – because although jewelry e-commerce is developing rapidly, physical retail remains crucial in the luxury sector. Jewelry is an art form that is deeply “analog” and best appreciated up close, in real life. The Silbertriennale International section dedicated to silver jewelry also promises to be particularly exciting – silver is currently a strong and highly relevant trend, aesthetically, economically and from an investment perspective. This project is yet another proof of how thoughtful and reality-driven the INHORGENTA 2026 program truly is. I have no doubt that in Munich we will experience, with all our senses, the brilliance and diversity of talents that define the contemporary jewelry world.
