Emilia Kohut. I see a light at the end of the tunnel, or modernly about amber.

I’m glad you’re visiting us again. Are you shaking your head? That means you’re new here. Welcome and get ready! Today, I’m going to ruin shake up your convictions. I’ll pull you away, for a moment, from the obvious window of a jewelry store, take your eyes off the pretty photos on Instagram. Are you ready? We’re about to go to a place of material experimentation, a place of designing secrets, locked away from the world.

A single-family house next to a forest. Two dogs: one large and a bit mistrustful, the other one small and cuddly. At the back, stairs and the entrance to the studio with a low ceiling. Smell of resin tingling in nostrils, dust ascending under shoes. A lot of containers with components for mixing resin. A gas mask, grinding machines, coveralls and female hands. They’re responsible for the experimental solids in a shade of azure. The artist shapes, grinds and finished each item personally. She dips different materials in the resin. I noticed natural amber, wood or pieces of ceramic in them. She likes to experiment and admits that it took a long time to find the additions to make the forms so extraordinary. The geometric solids are light, in both weight and color, and transparent. They feel smooth and delicate – like round stones. Like the ones I would pick at the seashore when I was a child. The designer’s jewelry delighted me during the summer edition of Hush Warsaw. That’s where I first came across the brilliantly displayed collection by Kohut. Emilia is a unique and mature artist. After meeting her, I also know that she has a lot to say. 🙂 I’m looking forward to her future endeavors. I could copy-paste her biography here, but I know that you’ll check it out by yourself on her website. We have a lot of talented designers in Poland. It really puts a smile on my face. 😉
