Tatty Devine. Pop art madness from London.

I woke up at 6 A.M. I did not sleep a wink due to all the emotions regarding the next meeting. I woke Katarzyna up a bit later, with a scent of coffee and a fresh English breakfast, though in a slightly light version. 😉 Colorfully dressed in our favorite outfits from Confashion, we went to catch a red bus going to Shoreditch. “It’s a London district that used be a bit more alternative, now it became really commercialized. But the nightlife there is really blooming” told us a debonair passenger on the bus. There’s one of the most famous streets in Schoreditch called Brick Lane. There are a lot of boutiques, cafés, charming places and workshop spaces for young people. That’s where the wonderful Tatty Devine store is located. As we entered, we felt absolutely enchanted. We wanted to unleash a barrage of questions for the shop assistants, but first we started with feeling up every colorful necklace (don’t worry, it’s a normal Magpie behavior). Tatty jewelry is heavily references to Pop art, you can also notice fashion inspirations from ‘80s with collage and cutouts from colorful magazines. The designers, Rosie Wolfenden & Harriet Vine have been blurring the line between fashion, art and culture with their ideas since 1999. Their collections show a great sense of humor, lightness and unpretentiousness. The jewelry is available in about 300 unique places (in London, around the world, online stores), where you can seize something crazy. Their designs are constantly covered in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Grazia, and Cosmopolitan. It’s no coincidence that Tatty Devine becaome one of the most original brands, not only on the Isles. The customizable collection is fantastic. On the website, you can personally design a necklace with your own name or something else, and match the color of the chain and finish it with an additional pedant. Since recently, Tatty Devine has been also running workshops in their boutique. We can only imagine the wonderful atmosphere during those. Every participant introduced to how the magical machine called laser cuts the right shape and learns how to make, e.g., a lobster that caught their attention. I really wanted to make one for myself. Unfortunately, there were no workshops during our visit. But I will remember my design and I’m definitely going to realize it next time I come to London. A pearly pink one would look dope, wouldn’t it? 😉 We really like how every boutique is perfectly designed and polished visually. Brilliant set designs that hold the jewelry truly enrich the interior with an extraordinary, slightly crazy climate. The girls in the store were genuinely friendly. Before leaving, we manage to learn what they’re currently working on. I’ll just say that Tatty Devine is planning a wonderful winter holidays collection.

As we were leaving, lovely Jasmine Rocks gave us two small boxes. We randomly drew the boxes for each other. Mine held a necklace with a phrase, “hold on tight”, while Katarzyna got one saying, “kiss me quick.” I like to wear mine with a t-shirt and a dress on summer days. On the other hand, Katarzyna puts her on for parties. 😉 What’s your favorite design by Tatty Devine? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
