Forty silver columns of various heights – one for each year in the Fair’s history – create a shiny installation, with over 500 exhibitors and 450 merchants from around the world visiting.

Gold, lots of gold!

Oroarezzo is the younger ‘sister’ of Vicenzaoro (read HERE about the Vicenza event for the jewelry industry) that has been hosted in the charming Tuscany town of Arezzo for the past 40 years. Gold jewelry reigns supreme here, but there is also lots of room for business meetings. The Cash and Carry zone flourishes. There you can buy ready-made sparkles for your store. An area dedicated to production machines (laser printers) and photography (light boxes) of the goldsmithing sector was a novelty this year. The press materials inform that the area was opened with buyers from countries such as Indonesia, Algeria, Vietnam or Peru, where the cutting edge technologies are most desirable.

Trends in rings

Apart from the business conversations over a cup of espresso and those outstanding Tuscan snacks, it’s wonderful to discover designers and brands that had been around for some time, and yet you didn’t know about them. This is all thanks to the 2019 PREMIERE Contest (this year in its 29th edition) and the exhibition that followed with the main theme being…. the ring.

Because the ring is „the most loved item of jewellery, perhaps the oldest and most solemn, laden with symbolic meanings and charm. Timeless jewels and icons of style that are constantly re-invented to express the personality of the wearer” – mówi Beppe Angiolini, Honorary President of the National Chamber of Fashion Buyers and Art Director of OroArezzo and Gold/Italy.

The jury, consisting of the VO + editor-in-chief Federica Frosini, fashion designer Eva Cavalli and journalist Paola Cacianti, awarded jewelry works in four categories: Creativity in e Design (Unoaerre Industries, Orolò, Falcinelli Italy); Innovation & Trends (Ronco, Caoro – The Fashion Expression, Sade); Art & Sculpture (Giordini, Graziella Group, Loto Prezioso); and Special mention (Kitty, Maria Gaia Piccini Pontevecchio, Alunno & Co, MPM di Gobbato Enzo).
