Catwalk report, that is the biggest jewelry trends for spring

They say that one swallow doesn’t make summer, but in Pica Pica there are already 8 Magpies! With such a bunch you can make a total revolution. I am responsible for the fashion one, so in this article I will prepare you for the new season and show you the biggest jewelry trends straight from the European catwalks.

Dear Magpie, have you already started to assemble the spring wardrobe? Maybe the weather outside the window doesn’t look like it, but my magpie instinct says that the warmth is coming! What’s more, the shops are already teeming with colors, flowers and airy fabrics. If you are slowly writing down your must-haves, you may want to think about what you’ll shine with in the new season. Especially for you I spotted the most interesting trinkets from the catwalks, which I would gladly adopt for myself.

Let’s talk about trends

I will not discover America if I write that on the catwalks it is the clothes that play the first fiddle. The collection reviews mostly pay attention to the overall aesthetics, inspirations and main theme. And where in all of this is jewelry? Unfortunately, it gets very little attention, unless it’s huge and dazzles each editor. It’s time to change it!

Imagine my surprise, Magpie, when watching the fashion shows I discovered that jewelry is everywhere! And by that I mean that the main spring trend is trinkets!

From among nearly 300 collections I selected 6 most interesting ones for you. But remember, Magpie, the show is only inspiration! The most important is your individualism and the way you decide to show your jewelry.

Shoulder-length earrings

Let’s visit New York first. It is where the Fashion Week started and from the beginning I was amazed by the Proenza Schouler collection! The brand’s designers, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, created a boisterous collection full of colors, prints and tassels. However, not only clothes, but jewelry drew most of the attention. There were massive plastic earrings resembling tassels at the coats of arms, which hung down to the models’ shoulders. Maxi jewelry was also shown by Givenchy, Kenzo and Saint Laurent. That’s why, my dear Magpie, if you want to stand out in the street, follow their lead!

License to lose

Do you know, dear Magpie, that the London Fashion Week is considered the most extravagant of them all? I always wait the most for Mary Katrantzou’s show. This time her main inspiration was antique vase painting and, to add a touch of avant-garde, the models got… only one earring! You can call it crazy, but don’t we, Magpies, always happen to lose something? This season I give you permission to lose.

Arm yourself!

Alexander McQueen fashion house creative director, Sarah Burton, has been inspired for some time now by court fashion. In the latest collection she decided to combine the elements from the closet of a noblewoman and a knight. The jewelry worn by models resembled an armor! Brass earrings, metal chokers, leather belts and corsets looked really scary! If you want to bring out your dark nature such jewelry will certainly evoke respect.

Mismatched

In Milan I noticed another interesting trend – jewelry mixing! At Marni’s show the models had mismatched earrings and bracelets. Therefore, in the spring you can dig up from your Magpie jewelry box all incomplete trinkets and mix them as you wish!

In a set

Now I have something for the more organized Magpies. It is time to visit Paris and take a look at what they promote. Here it is a top trend to wear jewelry sets. In the Elie Saab’s show the fairytale creations were accompanied with even more exquisite jewelry – earrings, necklaces, and even belts and glasses were matching. Real elegance!

Brooches

The last interesting jewelry proposition I saw in the Lanvin’s show. This fashion house’s spring collection marked a debut of new creative director – Bouchra Jarrar. The show was full of clothes of boudoir character and it was jewelry that made them not look like pajamas. The accessory was beautiful brooches in the form of satin flowers, from which, like in military uniforms, small chains were flowing down. I must admit, that I’m not a fan of brooches but I’d make an exception for these!
