License to bling. Jewelry inspirations for carnival 2017
Carnival is fun… We go crazy with outfits, glitter makeup (glitter strobing) and can also go crazy with jewelry. Take a look at our jewelry inspirations for carnival 2017
What is zirconia?
Zirconia is very similar to diamond due to its sparkling optical properties. At the first glimpse of an untrained eye they are hard to distinguish. However, if you want to be able to tell one from another, our gemstone specialist – Ania Szewczyk – described in her article how to do it with the light, warmth and clarity test: <link>. It is worth remembering that zirconia was created as a form of diamond imitation and is way softer.
I learned that zirconia is on the bottom of hardness on Mohs scale. It is a ten-degree scale of mineral hardness. It organizes minerals from the softest to the hardest and was devised by German mineralogist Friedrich Mohs in 1812.
You’re getting more and more curious, aren’t you, Magpie? I’m about to explain to you what a zirconia is. It is just a colorless, artificial decorative stone, which doesn’t have any counterpart in nature. It occurred on the market for the first time in 1973 and due to its “sparkly apparition” zirconia conquered the market and today it is still one of the most frequently bought artificial stones.
Something sparkling for everyone…
This year I noticed a complete craze for sparkling and zirconia adornments. Monika Brodka didn’t hesitate to cover her face with those impressive stones in the “Up In The Hill” video, and our friend and jewelry blogger Liza Urla had her face ornamented on this year’s Fashion Week in London…
And since we are talking about trends, I will show you our carnival inspirations from Shining collection (silver jewelry with zirconia) form Apart brand – who created the collection – from subtle rings to large earrings and bracelets – for women who aren’t afraid to shine.
Tomorrow is the New Year’s Eve and then 25 days of carnival. Dazzle everyone and have fun – you have a total license to bling. Kiiiisses, Magpie. <3
