It’s not a fair, it’s THE SHOW – 3rd edition of THE jewelry event in Hamburg

One of the most intriguing jewelry events in Europe is just around the corner. The 3rd edition of Hamburg’s boutique jewelry fair, THE SHOW, will take place between the 1st and 3rd of October. Living Dolls, dinner in the sky, the mysterious aura of the seaport on the river Elbe – did I pique your interest yet, dear jewelry lover? It’s not just a fair – maintain the event’s organizers, promising a sensational program and unique atmosphere to all that come.

Young, dynamic, and ambitious. Sounds like a Tinder bio, you may joke, but these words perfectly describe THE SHOW. The first edition of this jewelry trade fair was in 2020. Despite the numerous challenges the height of the pandemic posed, the fresh format and incredible location drew in quite a crowd of jewelry brand reps, buyers, and the media. The following year, our own chief jewelry afficionados, Agata and Katarzyna, attended the event. I asked our Magpie-in-Chief, Agata, what she remembers most from last year’s edition. Without a moment’s hesitation she said it was the jewelry fashion shows with the participation of models. Everything was perfectly executed – the setting, the outfits, the professional choreography. To showcase pieces of jewelry this way is no easy feat – stresses Agata. The organizers of THE SHOW took great care to ensure the many necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets were superbly displayed. And the overall atmosphere of THE SHOW is inimitable – luxury and glamour against the industrial backdrop of the event’s venue is, to me, a home run!

Business meets fun

This year’s edition of THE SHOW will also include these marvelous fashion shows that Agata told us about. Brands participating in the event will showcase their new collections on “living dolls,” that is, models in fashionable ensembles featuring dazzling pieces of jewelry. Franziska Knuppe, German modelling star (known for her campaigns with Schwarzkopf and Mercedes Benz as well as walking for designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Joop) is said to make an appearance on the runway. Around 60 brands will display their designs during the 3rd THE SHOW, including well-known companies such as Gismondi 1754, Niessing, Capolavoro, Scheffel, and Roberto Coin, as well as niche manufacturers who are just starting to gain recognition. The Watch Talks, moderated by renowned watch expert Gisbert L. Brunner, are an important part of the upcoming edition of THE SHOW, too.

At THE SHOW “business meets fun,” the organizers proclaim. Professionals from the jewelry industry will have the opportunity to discover the latest trends, look for potential business partners, and network. However, since work-life balance “muss sein,” the fair’s visitors are guaranteed to have fun as well. Saturday’s kick-off party will be a house party-like get-together. For Sunday evening, on the other hand, THE SHOW’s organizers have planned a spectacular “Dinner in the Sky,” a gala held at the Emporio Tower, overlooking the harbor by the Elbe and Alster. Like in 2021, in the post-industrial event space of Schuppen 52 visitors will not only get to see stunning jewelry collections but also art projects from various artists prepared as part of the Art Park.

The contrast between the rough, industrial vibe of the city and the sleek glamour of jewelry is part of THE SHOW’s unique charm. We remain innovative – asserts Christian Jürgens, leader of the organizing committee. Each edition of THE SHOW must be better than the previous one. For instance, lighting was a key aspect of the preparations for the 3rd edition, to better showcase the exhibitors’ collections. (The) “show must go on,” dear jewelry lover, so stay with us and follow our CEO Agata’s report from Hamburg. We’ll see, what Jürgens’ team has in store for THE SHOW’s visitors this year.

THE SHOW best of jewelry and watches

Woli pisać o innych niż o sobie. Bardziej niż pisać, lubi słuchać i obserwować. Zresztą, jak twierdzi, bez drugiego i trzeciego nie ma pierwszego. Zawodowo – nadworne pióro (klawiatura) poznańskiego Starego Browaru i współszefowa papierniczej marki Suska & Kabsch. Po godzinach: leń kanapowy, mól książkowy, amatorka dobrego jedzenia (gotowania niekoniecznie). Wino ocenia po etykiecie, książki po okładce, ludzi po butach. Zwykle się sprawdza.
