Love at first gem – discover the magic of Vitale jewelry
If jewelry were the seasons of the year, Vitale’s creations would be spring. The jewels in Ricardo Vitale’s designs are bursting with color, like an great bouquet of flowers. The charm of this Italian brand’s pieces does not so much lie in their artistry but in the of exceptional ability to bring out the uniqueness of their wearer – that’s the magic and mission of Vitale.
I’ve asked our Editor-In-Chief, Agata Jankowiak, to tell me a bit about how her fascination with the brand Vitale began. As she recalls, “it all started during last year’s Milano Jewelry Week. The event’s posters featured a sensational heart-shaped necklace that simply to called out to me. I learned that this enchanting pendant, with its deep red heart-shaped rubellite tourmaline with little golden rods (each fixed with a small diamond “burst”) shooting out of its center like precious fireworks and encircled by a ruby-studded delicate heart frame, is the creation of Vitale Jewelry. Known as the Heart Bang, it symbolizes the explosion of love and emotions and remains one of the most iconic pieces of the brand. It has even been made in a smaller size. Eager to see the pendant for myself, and hopefully try it on, I headed to Vitale’s stand where I instantly felt a connection to Ricardo Vitale, the brand’s lively head as well as visionary designer. As it turned out – the feeling was mutual and, thus, a new friendship and creative cooperation bloomed, the fruit of which was the recent colorful, spring editorial by Blingsis, dedicated to the spectacular Vitale jewelry.
Sparkle engineering
The color extravaganza of Vitale jewelry is all, as the brand professes, “nature’s magic.” Amethysts, topazes, citrines, tourmalines, surprisingly brown quartzes – Ricardo’s love for natural gemstones stems from his aunt. They had worked side by side for a long time, together developing their jewelry atelier. Today, however, it is Ricardo who runs both the business and design part of Vitale. Yet imagine our surprise, dear jewelry lover, when we discovered that this gifted artist with a warm smile is also … an engineer! While at first it may seem like this profession has little to do with the sparkling world of jewelry, Ricardo harnesses his specialist knowledge to create the innovative Vitale blend of precision and structure. This Italian designer’s specialty are unique ring settings thanks to which as much light as possible passes through the gem, emphasizing its radiance and charm.
Go big or go home
If you’ve been following us for some time, dear stylish reader, you probably know that our Editor-in- Chief, Agata, frequently jokes that she has taken to styling maximalist, expressive jewelry as a duck (or should we say magpie ;)) to water and that bold and vibrant colors are her element. That’s probably why the Blingsis x Vitale editorial was a match made in heaven – but you don’t have to take our word for it. You can see the sparkling chemistry for yourself, radiating from each full of spring colors, yet light and airy, shot from the recent photoshoot. Agata highlighted the luscious, vibrant colors that are a signature of the brand. Ricardo does not skimp on carats when designing his pieces, masterfully playing around with scale and color. For example, when creating a ring with pink spinel stones, he intentionally reaches for various shades and tones this gem, celebrating its natural diversity. The dramatic glamour and elegance of his designs unite with airiness and modernity to create Vitale’s particular kind of magic, one that ignites the hearts of jewelry lovers, sparking awe and amazement.
